Client Need
Maison Libre was commissioned by Patrizia, a leading real estate fund, to enhance the commercial appeal of a key office floor within their portfolio. The objective was to transform the space into an environment that is not only functional, but also inviting and inspiring for prospective tenants.
The brief was clear: create an office floor that goes beyond the standard workplace. A space where companies can work efficiently, while also feeling welcomed and inspired. This required the integration of shared service facilities such as comfortable meeting rooms, a high-end pantry, and an inviting lounge area. At the same time, sufficient flexibility was needed for tenants to incorporate their own identity within their individual units. Maison Libre was tasked with developing a warm, attractive layout that is both commercially viable and practically efficient.
Maison Libre Approach
Using the DWG drawings as a foundation, Maison Libre developed a spatial zoning plan to optimise the layout of the floor. In close collaboration with brokers, investors, contractors, and installers, we sought the right balance between aesthetics, functionality, and feasibility. The result is a commercial environment that is both appealing and practical, with a strong focus on flexibility and comfort.
Throughout the design process, the rich history of the building was carefully considered. Maison Libre ensured that the redevelopment respects the original architecture, while introducing a contemporary and warm spatial experience. Through marketing visualisations, brokers were able to engage potential tenants even during the renovation phase.
A Tailor-Made Layout for a Building with History
The building reimagined by Maison Libre was the former headquarters of V&D—an iconic landmark in Dutch architectural history. This unique context offered an opportunity to restore original architectural elements while introducing a contemporary interpretation of the space.
Maison Libre carefully reinstated and highlighted the building’s distinctive architectural features, using its forms and structural rhythm as a guiding principle for the design. By subtly repeating materials, colours, and finishes across walls and floors, a warm and cohesive atmosphere was created that aligns perfectly with the expectations of modern tenants.
Maison Libre went beyond the overall spatial design. Every detail—from the greenery within the space to the high-end pantry facilities—was carefully curated to create a welcoming and professional environment. The result is an office floor where tenants not only feel at home, but are also able to express their own identity within an inspiring setting.
By carefully balancing functional and aesthetic qualities, a workspace has been created that is not only attractive to tenants, but also contributes to the long-term value of the property.
